International Swing Quartet

All members of this small formation are experts on their instruments, but as a band they are unparalleled. The joy of making music together is evident from the first note.

Engelbert Wrobel (Germany), clarinet, saxophone

About the clarinetist and saxophonist Engelbert Wrobel, jazz publication The American Rag writes: "Engelbert Wrobel is a German woodwind player who can ignite a storm" A German newspaper writes: "It’s fabulous what he conjures out of his instrument".

Nicki Parrott (AUS), bass, vocals

The Australian bassist and singer Nicki Parrott "could make anyone love jazz" (Cabaret Scene). "She is the lady bassist and singer whose beauty matches her musicality" (Downbeat). In Japan, two of her CDs have been chosen as "Jazz Vocal Album of the Year."

Thilo Wagner (Germany), piano

Thilo Wagner, from Stuttgart, is one of the most experienced pianists on the international swing scene. Music journalist Martin Kunzler writes: "With Thilo Wagner the German scene has a pianist of distinction once again".

David Blenkhorn (AUS), guitar, vocals

The quartet is completed by guitarist David Blenkhorn, who shares his Australian background with Nicki. In addition to being a gifted singer, he is one of the few top-notch guitarists in the world to concentrate on older jazz styles.
